Job Summary
Manages large-scale projects across various departments, divisions, and schools to implement Accelerate Philly, the School District of Philadelphia’s five-year strategic plan. Oversees project scope preparation, financial projections, return on investment (ROI) analysis, lifecycle implementation, and budget oversight. Facilitates communication among internal teams, technology staff, vendors, schools, and community partners. Serve as the primary contact for project teams with ongoing projects. Employs industry-standard project management principles to develop, monitor, and report on projects from inception to postimplementation support. Collects, reviews, and analyzes data related to program activities to ensure informed decision-making.
Essential Functions
• Plans and manages complex project timelines; provides regular updates to project leads.
• Fosters strong relationships between departments and across teams.
• Prepares, manages, audits, and maintains direct responsibly for project budgets.
• Prepares reports related to project status and projections.
• Supervises project or department staff as needed.
• Handles sensitive projects and matters confidentially.
• Assists in organizational planning across various departments.
• Supports the development of cross-departmental implementation plans aligned with the School District of Philadelphia’s strategic plan, Accelerate Philly.
• Collaborates with the Office of Evaluation, Research, and Analytics to monitor project implementation and impact.
• Contributes to the development of public reports demonstrating progress toward strategic goals.
• Aligns budget and investment decisions with the District’s strategic objectives.
• Facilitates regular project meetings and provides problem-solving support to initiative managers.
Minimum Requirements
• Completion of a bachelor’s degree program from an accredited college or university.
• Six years of full-time, paid, professional, experience in either administration, operations, finance, education, or information technology which has included serving as a team lead or project manager.
OR
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Talent.
• All work experience related to the position must be included on the resume.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of:
o the procedures and methods utilized to implement systemic change in a timely, accurate, and effective manner.
o project management tools such as Asana Project Management, Excel or
Demonstrated ability to:
o manage large projects and budgets effectively.
o utilize analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex problems.
o commit to diversity and ethical standards in the workplace.
o represent a superior at meetings and conferences.
o present ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
