Job Summary
Facilitates the implementation of School-wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (SW-PIBS) methodologies. Expands the support structure for delivery of all levels of SW-PBIS implementation and evaluation at targeted schools. Coaches school-level PBIS teams and provides support for effective team functioning. Maintains communication within the school team, leadership, administrators, teachers, and other staff and connects the team to necessary resources, trainings, and supports for successful implementation of SW-PBIS. Provides technical assistance and determines data collection needs.
Essential Functions
- Assists in school-wide team training and implementation of the Tier I PBIS framework, including training on the Team Initiated Problem Solving (TIPS) process, and participates in active learning that fosters collaboration and participation.
- Facilitates meetings and supports the school-wide team through efforts to help ease and smooth the implementation process; ensures the team meets regularly and has a yearly meeting schedule; keeps team on-task, focused on roles/responsibilities, and documents progress.
- Offers tools to assist in record keeping and team evaluation; ensures the equal distribution of roles and responsibilities and ensures the team is using data for decision making.
- Assists with school-wide team planning and assists the team in completing and monitoring progress on a PBIS action plan and the state's school improvement plan as it relates to PBIS.
- Establishes staff buy-in and establishes a data-based decision making system; supports the implementation of a behavior flowchart.
- Consistently reminds SW-PBIS team and all school stakeholders of "big ideas" of PBIS and works with the team to include, get feedback from, and share data with all staff; identifies when team goals have been achieved and facilitates recognition (celebration).
- Fosters SW-PBIS implementation; assists school-wide team in staff training and student trainings and kickoffs through the development of training schedules; develops and organizes materials and monitors the implementation of all training activities; fosters positive relationships with school administration and staff.
- Monitors progress; utilizes tools to monitor progress of school-wide team meetings and functioning; monitors progress during planning, implementation and sustainability of SW-PBIS.
- Coordinates data; ensures the dissemination of outcomes and effects; implements and supports the use of data-based decision making; provides technical assistance and facilitation of School Information System (SIS).
- Trains on, supports the implementation of, and progress monitors fidelity for Check-In, Check-Out (CICO) Tier II Intervention.
- Seeks out professional development opportunities, sessions for learning and growing professional knowledge, opportunities for collaboration, research, and/or the development of depth of knowledge of SW-PBIS.
- Regularly attends, collaborates, and actively participates in District PBIS team meetings, PBIS committee meetings, larger office meetings, and collaborative meetings and sessions with other central office support personnel.
- Liaises with other coaches, offices, and central office departments and school-based staff to integrate PBIS with other climate and instructional initiatives.
- Applies the lens of culturally responsive PBIS work to all tasks, including utilizing the lens of equity to confront racism.
- Facilitates District-wide professional development.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three years of full-time, paid, professional experience in education or a non-profit organization which has involved serving in a liaison and coordinating capacity, working with evidence-based interventions, and coaching school teams/staff in program implementation with an emphasis on fidelity.
