Job Summary
Ensures that compliance activities are implemented in accordance with all applicable guidelines, and state and federal laws and regulations. Updates procedures and policies to ensure fulfillment of current and new state and federal requirements. Evaluates, investigates and resolves compliance issues and concerns within the Office of Talent. Ensures that schools and department have been trained on using the appropriate leave code.
Essential Functions
· Assists in the development and implementation of procedures to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and District policies.
· Collects, organizes, and reviews documentation related to compliance requirements for employees, volunteers, and staff of external organizations providing services to the School District of Philadelphia; updates policies and procedures related to compliance.
· Gathers preliminary information for investigations and routine monitoring for compliance or in response to reports of non-compliance or concerns.
· Communicates information to appropriate parties on current requirements and changes; discuss best practices and compliance concerns.
· Provides guidance and recommendations to ensure accurate management of records.
· Generates reports for management review and analyzes data from reports.
· Performs compliance projects as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
· Two years of full-time, paid, professional experience in human resources which has included identifying and assessing areas of compliance risk.
OR
· Any combination of training and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Talent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of:
○ modern methods, principles and practices of public personnel administration.
○ the methods and techniques used to monitor compliance.
○ methods to test that internal controls are in place and working.
○ leave policies.
Demonstrated ability to:
○ coordinate and implement compliance initiatives.
○ design and coordinate training activities.
○ collect data and prepare reports with practical recommendations.
○ use a personal computer to create spreadsheets.
○ understand and implement policies and procedures.
○ support and train others in compliance matters.
○ communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
○ establish and maintain effective working relationships.
