Job Summary

The Program Manager for LGBTQ+ Student Supports will coordinate and lead initiatives that support LGBTQ+ students across K-12 schools. This role will focus on fostering inclusive environments, ensuring equitable access to resources, and promoting understanding among school communities. The Program Manager will collaborate with staff, students, and external partners to implement programs that address the needs of LGBTQ+ students. They will also provide guidance on best practices and advocate for policies that enhance inclusivity. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills to create a safe and affirming environment for all students.

Essential Functions

LGBTQ+ Student Supports Specialty

     Plans, organizes, and implements LGBTQ+ programming, outreach activities, and information sessions for K-12 schools.

     Assists in setting project timelines and milestones to achieve performance goals, including the creation of safe spaces and enhancing knowledge about the LGBTQ+ community.

     Conducts professional development training for school leaders, staff, and students on LGBTQIA+ programming, issues, and inclusivity.

     Provides problem-solving support and resources to schools to foster LGBTQ+ inclusivity and address challenges.

     Assists schools in collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and utilizing data to assess the effectiveness of LGBTQ+ programs.

     Works closely with LGBTQ+ program sponsors to compile and report on program data and outcomes.

     Supports LGBTQ+ sponsors in identifying potential risks, developing strategies, and creating plans to build momentum for LGBTQ+ initiatives.

     Creates and distributes a monthly newsletter for students and sponsors to keep staff and students informed about upcoming events and activities.

     Schedules and oversees quarterly meetings for Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) sponsors.

     Identifies and supports student committee groups that can contribute to and promote LGBTQ+ programming goals.

     Monitors the development and implementation of collaborative structures, programs, and partnerships within the district and with external stakeholders.

     Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to define performance goals, set targets, and develop project timelines for LGBTQ+ initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

      Master’s degree from an accredited college or university

      Five years of full-time, paid, professional experience in LGBTQ+ program management which has included work with schools and/or non-profits.

OR

      Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

      Seven years of full-time, paid, professional experience in LGBTQ+ program management which has included work with schools and/or non-profits.

      Any combination of training and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of

Talent.

      All work experience related to the position must be included on the resume.

Demonstrated knowledge of:

      current social, political, and economic issues in Philadelphia as they relate to urban schools, students, and families.

      community resources available to meet social and economic needs.

Demonstrated ability to:

      cultivate and sustain relationships with a diverse group of community partners.

      manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adhere to timelines.

      maintain organized records and files and compile information in report form. ●      work both collaboratively and independently.

      facilitate productive and engaging stakeholder meetings, both large and small, as well as training and other professional development forums.

      access and coordinate community resources.

      exercise discretion and tact in dealing with sensitive situations.

      use a computer for word processing and data management.

      understand and follow verbal and/or written directions.

      communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

      establish and maintain effective working relationships.
