This is a full-time, Non-Represented role. The salary grade for this posting is 4032. The salary range is $98,044 to $145,155. Please note that the final salary will be determined by our Classification and Compensation team after reviewing the candidate's experience and considering our internal salary equity.

Title: Executive Director, ELA & Math

Department: Curriculum and Instruction 

Reports To: Deputy Chief, Curriculum and Instruction

Job Summary:

Manages and oversees the work of the Directors and Curriculum Specialists in grades K-12 in the content areas of English Language Arts (ELA) and Math or Science, Social Studies, Health, Safety, and Physical Education or Innovation. Provides leadership in the areas of curriculum development, staff development, and the effective utilization of instructional materials. Ensures that operations are in compliance with District policies as well as local, state and federal regulations. Formulates and implements new programs or expands existing programs in order to meet District goals and objectives. 
 
Essential Functions:

•    Oversees and directs the work of English Language Arts and Math staff in the Office of Curriculum and Instruction. 
•    Coordinates the planning and implementation of curricular programs and initiatives; develops plans that address continuous student improvement in response to District data. 
•    Through subordinate administrators directs English Language Arts and Math staff; establishes areas of responsibility for subordinate staff and monitors their specific elements of accountability. 
•    Provides direct support to the administrator of Curriculum and Instruction with regard to K-12 English Language Arts and Math instruction. 
•    Oversees all English Language Arts and Math professional development for alignment to the District's anchor goals, guard rails and academic priorities. 
•    Reviews English Language Arts and Math programs; assesses programs’ progress and ensures that programs are being implemented in an effective manner. 
•    Participates in cross collaborative planning and support with Executive Directors in the Office of Curriculum and Instruction and other offices. 

Minimum Requirements:

•    Master’s degree program from an accredited college or university. 
•    Ten years of full-time, paid, professional experience in the area of curriculum and instruction, five of which have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity and have included responsibility for directing and coordinating program implementation through subordinates. 

Certificates/Licenses:

• Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania certificate for K-12 or Elementary and Secondary Principal. 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Demonstrated knowledge of: 

o    curriculum development and implementation and instructional strategies related to curriculum, content and problem-solving. 
o    the principles, practices and methods of education in K-12 pertaining to the area of assignment for Literacy and Math.
o    a variety of pedagogical modalities.
o    research related to the field of expertise.
o    the principles of educational administration.
o    supervisory methods and techniques. 

Demonstrated ability to: 

o    design and initiate innovative educational programs and practices.
o    oversee and review benchmark test content and design.
o    plan and administer strategies for effective system wide staff development.
o    design and initiate innovative educational programs and practices.

o    monitor and control operating expenses. 
o    communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 
o    establish and maintain effective working relationships.
