Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree program at an accredited college or university in an educational discipline.
  • Five years of full-time, paid, appointed classroom teaching experience.

Certificates/Licenses

Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Instructional II certificate in the appropriate subject area.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of:
  • Cognitive coaching model.
  • Current research in educational methodology and pedagogy.
  • Principles and practices of sound classroom management and engagement strategies.
  • Processes for aligning instruction with content.
  • Stages of teacher development.
  • Adult learner strategies and techniques.
  • Contractual provisions of the Peer Assistance Review (PAR) program.
  • SDP Teaching Standards.
  • SDP curriculum and assessments at the elementary, middle and/or high school level(s)
  • Learning methods and educational best practices.

           

  • Demonstrated skill in:
  •   Successfully implementing the cognitive coaching model.
  •   Providing feedback and coaching.
  •   Presenting information and making sound and well supported recommendations.
  •   Exercising appropriate leadership behavior to enhance and promote change.
  •   Delivering outstanding classroom teaching in alignment with SDP Teaching Standards.
  •   Using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Powerpoint) and Google Apps (Drive, Docs, Slides, etc)
  • Demonstrated ability to:
  • Communicate in a clear and concise manner both orally and in writing.
  • Create and execute comprehensive plans.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Use data and the classroom experience to make informed and objective decisions.
  • Create comprehensive analyses and reports.
  • Monitor, record and make timely and appropriate adjustments when required.
  • Organize and manage resources, schedules and caseload.

 

Term:

Consulting Teachers shall have terms of no more than six (6) years.  A Consulting Teacher who has completed a term must return to the classroom for a minimum of two (2) years before re-applying for the PAR program.

3) All reference letters must be provided from current colleagues, building representatives, and principals.

4) If you are applying from an SDP school without a current PFT building representative, provide a reference from a building committee member. If you are applying from an external school or organization, please provide an additional colleague letter.

5) All reference letters must be dated within one year of submission.

6) All reference letters must be signed in one of the following ways:

- Physical signature on the letter, scanned, and uploaded

- Real signature added to a PDF using the "fill and sign" option

- Official "e-signature" through the Adobe PDF program

- If you are unable to obtain one of the above signature options, the recommender can send you an email from an official school email address with the phrase "I have submitted a letter of reference on behalf of [applicant name]. This message serves as my signature." Then, save that email as a document and upload with your letter.

- Letters with a script font as the signature and unsigned letters will not be accepted.
