Minimum Requirements 

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three years of full-time, paid, professional experience in asbestos inspections and asbestos safety which has involved planning and scheduling asbestos abatement work for a large school district following the AHERA guidelines. 

 

               OR

 

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Talent.

 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of:
  • environmental laws and regulations governing the AHERA regulations and the City of Philadelphia Asbestos Control Regulations.
  • the current literature and available resources in the area of AHERA regulations.
  • Microsoft Excel, Google Documents and database systems.

 

    • Ability to:
  • prioritize and manage competing projects.
  • develop and implement plans that accomplish specific objectives.
  • be cross trained in all aspects of AHERA operations for Lead Based Paint, Indoor Air Quality and Underground Storage Tanks, for example, where AHERA information is utilized.
  • operate effectively within a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
  • maintain records and prepare reports.
  • use a personal computer.
  • communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Certificates/Licenses

  • Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Management Planner License.
  • Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Building Inspector License.
