Job Summary
Oversees the instruction and compliance of gifted learners in assigned school sites. Assists with the design, implementation, monitoring, and assessment of all aspects of the Gifted Program that provides a continuum of services to offer gifted students opportunities for enrichment, acceleration, or a combination of both. Supports the facilitation of student screening and identification across the school sites. Implements research-based practices in compliance with state and federal regulations in all School District of Philadelphia schools. Implements high-quality professional development that includes but is not limited to differentiating instruction for proficient/advanced students. Provides support for gifted or twice exceptional students in regular and/or special education classrooms, meeting identified goals that may include, but are not limited to, arranging for time for like-ability peers to work together, expanding on the School District of Philadelphia curriculum, supporting classroom studies, and other individualized academic strengths. Ensures pedagogy used to instruct gifted students is research-based and supports appropriate advanced learning opportunities. Provides opportunities to engage parents and community-based organizations in the educational process.
Essential Functions
● Supports the school's development and implementation of a GIEP to provide a continuum of services for identified gifted students.
● Assists the MTSS process in identifying students who may need to be evaluated for gifted services using District and State guidelines, making particular efforts to collaborate with school staff to identify students from populations often underrepresented in gifted programs and students who may be underachieving.
● Assists with screening and data analysis of gifted universal screening processes.
● Supports the compliance-related processes identified by Chapter 16 of the PA School Code in screening, identifying, and servicing qualified gifted students each year, as required by state law.
● Provides classroom teachers with materials, resources, and opportunities for appropriate interventions for gifted students that support individual student goals through enrichment, acceleration, or the combination of both within the School District of Philadelphia curriculum
● Provides group or individual staff development/modeling on differentiation strategies and interventions on gifted education compliance and best practices, including the affective needs and characteristics of gifted and twice exceptional students.
● Confers with staff and facilitators; utilizes student achievement data to provide ideas, strategies, feedback, and support for instructional strategies and interventions to differentiate curriculum and implement GIEPs for gifted and twice exceptional students
● Provides high-quality, challenging materials to enrich, accelerate/or provide the combination of both within the regular curriculum.
Minimum Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
● Five years of full-time, paid, professional, appointed classroom or site-based teaching experience.
Preferred Requirements
● PA Gifted Endorsement, the completion of three graduate courses specializing in Gifted Education, familiarity with Chapter 14 and 16 compliance requirements, and/or experience teaching mentally gifted and twice exceptional students.
● Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.

● the modern methods, principles, practices, and content of the educational area for which application is being made.
● differentiated instructional models and strategies that appropriately address the needs and interests of identified gifted students.
● extensive and appropriate curricular provisions for identified mentally gifted elementary or secondary students.
● best practices for the identification of the gifted student.
● the process of individualizing the instructional program based on the assessed needs of gifted students.
● suitable techniques for assessing students’ interests, learning levels, rates and style, and monitoring each student’s progress.
∙ Demonstrated ability to:
● develop and facilitate professional development to support teachers in improving instructional practices and provide opportunities for the growth of gifted students
● prepare lesson plans and related curriculum aids.
● establish and maintain effective working relationships.
