Minimum Requirements

•  Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, educational administration or a related field.

•  Ten years of full-time, paid educational experience, at least five of which have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity.'

•  Possession of a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility. 

NOTE: An applicant who does not meet the minimum education or work experience requirements listed above may be considered if, at the sole discretion of the Talent Office, they have a unique combination of education and work experiences that indicates potential for success in this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

Demonstrated Knowledge of: 

pre-kindergarten through 12 instructional continuums. o current theories and research related to educational initiatives. 

research-based school improvement designs and current issues facing urban public education.

governmental mandates impacting education. o the utilization of differentiated instruction methods and techniques. o effective team building. o use of technical computer applications. o educational administrative process as it relates to school organization and management. o techniques and strategies for managing large diverse organizations. o District administrative policies, goals and objectives.

the laws and regulations governing public school administration. 

Demonstrated Ability to:

oversee, direct and coordinate the work of others in the effective implementation of District’s policies and procedures. o design staff training and development programs for academic leadership.

build effective teams. o analyze and resolve complex problems. o interpret programs, policies and directives to community stakeholders. o make persuasive presentations. o improve schools in urban settings. o communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

establish and maintain effective working relationships.
