Job Summary

Oversees school/community based or departmental programs and activities for the assigned office. Plans and implements new and innovative approaches for academic support or departmental operations through programmatic systems, intervention sequences, preventative activities or multi-disciplinary safety and multi-tiered systems of support for schools. Ensures all programmatic activities are implemented with fidelity and that the programs are in compliance with School District policies and procedures and grant stipulations or Act 89 and Title I and II guidelines.

Essential Functions

●     Oversees the daily implementation of  districts suicide awareness and prevention youth training program

●     Plans and implements activities which are designed to achieve the short and long-term goals for Student Support Services; plans and coordinates activities as directed by the Deputy Chief, Prevention and Intervention to ensure the attainment of required outcomes.

●     Provides guidance to departmental staff in the development of specific and coordinated work plans; ensures that activities are executed in accordance with established timelines.

●     Provides training for staff, youth, and families

●     Oversee suicide funding, monitors suicide prevention contracts and memorandum of understands.

●     collects, monitors, and analyzes data within this area

●     Serves as a resource to other School District offices and schools.

Minimum Requirements

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social services or mental health/behavioral health field.

Two years of full-time, paid, professional experience in social services or mental health/behavioral health field and has involved managing programs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of:

o   administrative and budgetary practices and procedures.

o   the current methods, processes and techniques utilized in the implementation of program initiatives.

o   the methods used to develop contracts and manage external resources

Ability to:

  • assess the effectiveness of programmatic activities and to make recommendations for modifications as needed.
  • conduct research and analyze data.
  • maintain records and prepare reports.
  • develop and facilitate presentations.
  • use a personal computer.
  • communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships.
