Job Summary
Provides and coordinates the delivery of a variety of support and technical services for the District’s systems/operational technology infrastructure and enterprise data centers, managed both locally as well as privately/independently. Acts as liaison to administrative offices, schools, and external organizations and agencies, to ensure the delivery of cost-effective, reliable and efficient technology services.
Essential Functions
- Participates in the oversight of the daily operations and availability of the District’s administrative, student, and network operating platforms, systems and connectivity environments.
- Participates in and provides technical support for processes related to system/application account administration, customer service desk interaction, change management, job/process control and scheduling, centralized and distributed print services, network/systems/communications access, departmental report generation, external agency data sharing, data archival/retrieval, problem tracking/resolution, and the maintenance of key
centralized information tables. - Maintains a database of reports as well as authorized recipients; adds/deletes users and/or reports to maintain up-to-date information; manages e-mail and phone requests for new user accounts, updates user accounts for non-SDP employees in exception tables; supplies privatized vendor ‘customer advocate’ with SDP IDs.
- Coordinates distributive printing; responds to requests for adding new forms or locations; schedules and transmits output to remote copiers; works with schools and offices in setting priorities for the completion of requested services; troubleshoots and provides technical support to District staff as needed; attempts to resolve any issues that may arise between programming staff and outsourcer’s scheduling staff.
- Manages sensitive information, such as social security numbers, passwords and financial transactions; coordinates the creation of mainframe user IDs for all District employees, interns and consultants; maintains a database of mainframe user IDs with current information reflecting new users and terminations.
- Coordinates printing services with outsourced vendors; creates and troubleshoots printer queues for the Student Information System (SIS).
- Works with District and non-District clients to discuss needs and to resolve issues related to the data center, user accounts and table maintenance.
- Serves as the primary contact to outsourced vendor’s help desk; provides level two support for the SDP help desk for all vendor-related issues.
- Develops and builds good communications and relationships between IT and the outsourcer; tracks and coordinates responses for open issues; oversees the delivery of critical reports to District employees as well as various vendors and outside agencies.
- Provides the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) service for the District; coordinates activities between SDP and vendors including TSAs, banks and credit unions; assists in devising best practices solutions for file transfer and information sharing with internal departments and external agencies.
- Responds to directory update e-mails; attempts to resolve issues and complaints related to online directory data; collaborates with various departments on non-technical directory issues.
- Participates in organizational planning within IT and other departmental offices; prepares reports related to project status and projections.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six years of full-time, paid experience in the technology field which has involved participation in the planning and implementation of complex projects, extensive mainframe experience, and the use of productivity software.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of:
- current technology and testing methodologies.
