This is a full-time, Non-Represented role. The salary grade for this posting is 4031. The salary range is $95,576 to $149,390. Please note that the final salary will be determined by our Classification and Compensation team after reviewing the candidate's experience and considering our internal salary equity.

Job Summary:
Directs the facility and maintenance operations of the School District’s physical plants. Directs and oversees through subordinate administrators, the activities of staff who develop and coordinate a facilities and maintenance program. Ensures that the maintenance and operations of the physical plants facilitate the creation of an environment which supports the educational mission of the School District.  

Essential Functions:
•    Fosters a culture of personal accountability, service and support. 
•    Plans, organizes and directs through subordinate administrators, a large staff comprised of operational trades and professional employees engaged in a wide variety of activities such as engineering, cleaning, training and facilities project management. 
•    Develops and coordinates an operations and maintenance program encompassing all District facilities; establishes policy, standing operating procedures, and program goals designed to ensure needed services; reviews and approves plans and programs for implementing policies; holds conferences with subordinate staff. 
•    Resolves the most complex operational and maintenance problems; conducts periodic inspections of buildings and grounds for conformance to established standards; indicates areas of improvement and suggests methods of approach for subordinate staff. 
•    Communicates the progress of programmatic goals to school administrators.   
•    Reviews requests for major repair services to assign priority and prompt scheduling; reviews records and reports pertaining to service and repairs performed; investigates the possibility for the redistribution of work to maximize the utilization of available manpower. 
•    Ensures compliance with governmental regulations governing the operation of public school facilities.  
•    Prepares and manages the departmental budget. 
•    Keeps abreast of the latest developments in the operation and maintenance of multiple facilities and investigates changes in materials, equipment and work methods. 
•    Develops a strategic plan for the department that align with the Operation Strategic Plan. 
•    Responsible for leading district-wide school opening.
•    Develops performance evaluation metrics and a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) system for monthly review and accountability. 
•    Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
•   Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. 
•   Ten years of full-time, paid, professional facilities services operations experience, five of which has been in an administrative or supervisory capacity and has included responsibility for a large complex of public or industrial buildings.

  •    Any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Talent. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated knowledge of:
o the practices and procedures essential in buildings and grounds service and maintenance activities. 

o maintenance and scheduling procedures as they apply to building and grounds operations and maintenance. 
o building services management technology.  
o supervisory methods and techniques.

Demonstrated ability to:
o plan and direct through subordinate supervisory personnel, the activities of a large professional and non-professional staff.
o estimate labor, material and time factors involved in a variety of building and grounds maintenance projects. 

o compile financial and operational data.
o communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
o prioritize and effectively manage work order backlog. 

o establish and maintain effective working relationships.
