Minimum Requirements

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Seven years of full-time, paid, professional experience which has involved coordinating and conducting environmental field audits of abatement or remediation projects.
  • All work experience related to the position must be included on the resume.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of:

  • the principles, methods and procedures governing the repair and removal of asbestos containing materials (ACM), and lead based paint (LBP).
  • underground storage tank (UST) systems and soil and groundwater impacts, in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations.
  • the current methods, processes and techniques utilized to ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
  • the occupational hazards and safety precautions of asbestos containing materials (ACM), lead-based paint (LBP), and UST projects.
  • the materials, tools and equipment used in investigations, assessments and abatement activities.
  • the occupational hazards and safety precautions of other environmental concerns.
  • the materials, tools and equipment used in the repair and/or removal of other environmental concerns, such as mold.
  • hazards of universal waste and hazardous material handling, identification, tracking and disposal options.

Demonstrated ability to:

  • coordinate environmental field audits and the work of a team.
  • analyze and interpret data and results of tests and inspections supplied by outside consultants and to make modifications to original plans if deemed necessary by test results.
  • works while wearing a NIOSH approved supplied respirator type “C” or a NIOSH approved high efficiency air purifying respirator, type “D” for extended periods of time.
  • identify potential environmental hazards and take corrective action.
    • wear protective clothing and equipment for extended periods of time.
    • accurately follow oral and written directions.
    • prepare records and reports of work performed.
  • communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Special Medical Requirements

  • Before a candidate can be employed for this position, he/she must successfully pass a physical examination as legally required by the regulations of NIOSH, the EPA and the state of Pennsylvania.

Certificates/Licenses

  • Possession of a proper class license valid to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Possession of a valid EPA approved Asbestos Worker/Supervisor Certificate.
  • Possession of a valid EPA approved Lead Abatement Supervisor Certificate as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the City of Philadelphia.
