Minimum Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
· Four years of full-time, paid, professional experience which has included involvement with accounting or auditing principles.
· One year of full-time supervisory experience.
· Master’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
· Three years of full-time, paid, professional experience which has included involvement with
accounting or auditing principles.
· One year of full-time supervisory experience.
OR
· Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate.
· Two years of full-time, paid, professional experience which has included involvement with accounting or auditing principles.
NOTE: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business or Finance with fifteen credits in Accounting with the specified years of experience above will also be accepted.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of:
○ relevant accounting principles and government accounting standards.
○ the methods and techniques used to oversee financial activities.
○ methods to test that financial controls are in place and working.
○ compliance monitoring techniques.
○ financial reporting, accounting and auditing.
○ computerized accounting software packages to include the Microsoft suite of products.
○ supervisory and performance management techniques.
○ budget analysis methods and techniques.
Demonstrated ability to:
○ prepare accounting entries.
○ prepare financial reports with practical recommendations.
○ design and coordinate training activities.
○ prepare reports with practical recommendations.
○ use mainframe enterprise financial systems to process work.
○ use a personal computer to create spreadsheets.
○ use an accounting, accounts payable and payroll system.
○ demonstrate proficiency in the use accounting software packages; preferably QuickBooks.
○ understand and implement policies and procedures.
○ support and train others in financial matters.
○ work within in standard accounting chart of accounts.
○ supervise employees who are field based.
○ communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
○ establish and maintain effective working relationships.
