Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of current full-time, paid experience in the field of Auto body/ Collision Repair.
  • Current possession or immediate attainment (within 1 year of hire) of industry credential(s) related to the field of Auto body/ Collision Repair.

                                                          OR

  • Associate’s degree program at an accredited college or university and/or completion of post-secondary technical training program at an accredited trade/technical school.
  • Four years of current full-time, paid experience in the field of Auto body/ Collision Repair. Current possession or immediate attainment (within 1 year of hire) of industry credential(s) related to the field of Auto body/ Collision Repair.

                                                          OR

  • Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth school grade.
  • Six years of current full-time paid, experience in the field of Auto body/ Collision Repair.
  • Current possession or immediate attainment (within 1 year of hire) of industry credential(s) related to the field of Auto body/ Collision Repair.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of:
    • the automotive services industry within the area of specialization.
    • the modern methods, theories and practices in the automotive industry.
    • the materials and techniques used in the collision industry, such as lifts, scan tools, pneumatic and hand tools, spray guns, welders, paint booth, mixing systems, etc.
    • the occupational hazards and safety precautions related to the automotive industry,
    • the proper care and use of tools and instruments used in the collision industry.

 

    • Demonstrated ability to:
  • select and organize curriculum content and to apply appropriate instructional methods.
  • proficiently use a personal computer and e-mail.
  • implement assessment tools for effective student evaluations.
  • communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • establish effective working relationships.

Certificates/Licenses

  • Possession of the required teaching certificate, as directed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Bureau of Teacher Certification or immediate eligibility for an Emergency Teaching Certification.
  • Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • I-CAR certifications
  • Possession of at least one current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in Collision Repair and Refinishing (B2 through B5). ASE-Certified Master Collision Repair Technician (all 4) preferred.  B6 Damage Analysis and Estimating Certification is a plus.
