Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of current full-time, paid experience in a state or municipal police agency, county sheriff’s office, military police, or corrections facility.
OR
• Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth school grade.
• Four years of current full-time paid, experience in a state or municipal police agency, county sheriff’s office, military police, or corrections facility.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of:
o police and protective services legal and procedural career and ethical standards.
Title: Teacher, Criminal Justice and Police Science
o contemporary standards related to protective services, the use of force and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Crimes and Vehicle Code and first responder medical response. o the functions and processes of the court system, and applicable case law pertaining to policing circumstances
o the requirements, processes, and routines needed to maintain physical fitness commensurate with the career. o the occupational hazards and safety precautions related to the protective services field.
o the proper vocabulary, processes, and sensitivities necessary for an officer of the law to be functional in any social situation.
• Demonstrated ability to:
o select and organize curriculum content and to apply appropriate instructional methods.
o implement assessment tools for effective student evaluations. o communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
o establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Certificates/Licenses
Possession of a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Career and Technical Intern or Career and Technical Instructional Certificate for the area of Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement or immediate eligibility for an Emergency Teaching Permit.
