Threat Assessment Liaison

Job Summary
Conducts threat assessments and coordinates all aspects of the threat assessment process. Collects and analyzes data and submits reports to ensure the attainment of District goals. Maintains communication within the School Safety team and other staff. Serves as a central point of contact for the threat assessment process.
Essential Functions
- Plans and implements activities which are designed to achieve the short and long-term goals of the threat assessment protocol.
- Participates in threat assessments to ensure the District threat assessment process is conducted thoroughly, ethically, legally, and with fidelity.
- Works with school-based staff to triage threats and determine when to conduct a full threat assessment investigation.
- Conducts interviews of students, targets of threats, witnesses, teachers, staff, and parents.
- Ensures threat assessment triage and investigation reports are completed according to District guidelines, and all applicable laws.
- Ensure threat assessment triage and investigation reports are documented and include relevant information, summary of findings and recommendations.
- Monitors, conducts follow-up and provides status updates on threat assessment triages and investigations.
- Assists the program manager with threat management, safety planning, and resource development.
- Serves as a liaison with other District departments for the threat assessment process.
- Participates the development of training; provides training and technical assistance to staff on District threat assessment best practices, policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three years of full-time, paid, professional experience in in the public or private sector which has involved at least one year of behavior threat assessment or experience in behavior or mental health, suicide prevention, threat assessment, juvenile justice or related fields.
OR - Any equivalent combination of training and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Talent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of:
- applicable federal, state, and local laws, statutes, ordinances, regulations and requirements related to threat assessment.
- the methods and techniques used in effective program planning, design, and administration.
- the procedures to implement threat management programs.
- the principles, practices and techniques of mental health and/or behavioral health.
- emergency response and crisis management.
Ability to:
- process multiple tasks simultaneously, adhere to timelines, complete work in a timely manner and carry out work successfully as part of a team.
- assess the effectiveness of programmatic activities and make recommendations for modifications as needed.
- maintain necessary records and files, compile information and prepare reports.
- use and operate a personal computer, and develop and facilitate presentations, training, and professional development. o schedule and manage multiple activities, meetings, and events simultaneously.
- communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- establish and maintain effective working relationships.
