Minimum Requirements:

  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

  Seven years of full-time, paid building services operational experience which have involved managing a large commercial or multiple facilities, at least three which have involved supervising personnel engaged in the engineering, cleaning and preventative maintenance.

OR

  High school diploma or equivalent.

  Eleven years of full-time, paid, technical experience in the operation and maintenance of a public or industrial building or complex of buildings, six years of which have included technical and administrative field supervision, overseeing employees engaged in the operation of HVAC systems, as well as cleaning and preventative maintenance. 

 OR

Eleven years of full-time, paid, journeyman level experience in a trade’s area, six of which have included directing a maintenance program, supervising and inspecting the work of subordinate supervisory trades personnel involved in the construction, repair and maintenance of multiple physical facilities. 

Certificates/Licenses:

Possession of a proper class license valid to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to appointment and during tenure of appointment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

   Demonstrated knowledge of:

o  the principles, practices and techniques employed in the operation and maintenance of a large complex of public or industrial buildings.

o  local, state and federal safety regulations, standards and occupational hazards applicable to the maintenance of public or industrial facilities.

o  the supervisory methods and techniques utilized in coordinating the activities of a large supervisory non-professional staff.

 

   Ability to:

o  supervise and direct the activities of staff.

o assure that staff provides the highest level of customer service.

o  plan and manage labor, material and time factors involved in a variety of building and grounds maintenance projects.

o  effectively execute a District wide preventative maintenance program.

o  compile and evaluate data and report on regional operations and service delivery status.

o  develop and implement strategic plans for improvement.

o  resolve administrative issues.

o receive, utilize, and provide corrective action and constructive criticism.

o  communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

o  establish and maintain effective working relationships.
