Job Summary

Leads and coordinates initiatives aimed at supporting Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and more (LGBTQ+) students and fostering inclusive environments across K-12 schools.

 

Essential Functions

LGBTQ+ Student Supports Specialty

·   Plans, organizes, and conducts LGBTQ+ programming, outreach activities, and information sessions for K-12 schools.

·   Assists in setting project timelines and milestones to achieve performance goals including creating safe spaces and enhancing knowledge about the LGBTQ community.

·   Conducts professional development trainings for school leaders, staff, and students on LGBTQIA+ programming and issues.

·   Provides problem-solving support and resources to schools regarding LGBTQ+  inclusivity.

·   Assists schools in collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and utilizing data to evaluate the effectiveness of LGBTQ+ programs.

·   Works closely with LGBTQ+ sponsors to compile and report on program data.

·   Supports LGBTQ+ sponsors in identifying risks, strategizing solutions, and developing plans to gain momentum.

·   Creates and distributes a monthly Student/Sponsor newsletter to keep staff and students informed about upcoming activities and events.

·   Schedules and oversees Gender and Sexuality Alliances sponsor meetings quarterly.

·   Identifies student committee groups that can support and promote LGBTQ+ programming goals.

·   Monitors the development and implementation of collaborative structures, programs, and partnerships internally and externally.

·   Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to define performance goals, set targets, and develop project timelines.

 

Minimum Requirements

·  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

·  Two years of full-time, paid, professional experience in LGBTQ+ program management which has included work with schools and/or non-profits.

 

OR

 

·  Any combination of training and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Talent.

·  All work experience related to the position must be included on the resume.

NOTE: An applicant who does not meet the minimum education or work experience requirements listed above may be considered if, at the sole discretion of the Talent Office, they have a unique combination of education and work experiences that indicates potential for success in this role.

 

·  LGBTQ+ Student Supports Specialty

·  Demonstrated knowledge of:

o   current social, political, and economic issues in Philadelphia as they relate to urban schools, students, and families.

o   community resources available to meet social and economic needs.

 

·  Demonstrated ability to:

o   cultivate and sustain relationships with a diverse group of community partners.

o   manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adhere to timelines.

o   maintain organized records and files and compile information in report form.

o   work both collaboratively and independently.

o   facilitate productive and engaging stakeholder meetings, both large and small, as well as trainings and other professional development forums.

o   access and coordinate community resources.

o   exercise discretion and tact in dealing with sensitive situations.

o   use a computer for word processing and data management.

o   understand and follow verbal and/or written directions.

o   communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

o   establish and maintain effective working relationships.
