This is a full-time, Non-Represented role. The salary grade for this posting is 4030. The salary range is $90,166 to $117,445. Please note that the final salary will be determined by our Classification and Compensation team after reviewing the candidate's experience and considering our internal salary equity.

Introduction:
Providing educators with differentiated and on-the-job supports, the School District of Philadelphia’s Teacher Effectiveness Office is committed to attaining high levels of student growth and achievement. Teacher support is provided by a group of highly motivated, skilled, passionate leaders who design supports and systems to serve educators in the field. The Office establishes and implements strategy for the evaluation, development, recruitment, selection, and retention of outstanding teachers, working to ensure that a highly effective teacher is in every classroom.


Job Summary:
Supervises, plans and implements comprehensive activities for coaches: Consulting Teachers who support teachers new to the School District of Philadelphia and Teacher Coaches who support second year teachers as well as struggling teachers. Develops and administers comprehensive professional development activities for the coaches, providing the necessary resources to train new and/or struggling teachers on effective strategies to use in the delivery of pedagogy, and best practices for an ethnically diverse student population. Deepens the knowledge of and implementation of The Danielson Framework for Teaching as it relates to teacher observation. Monitors coaches’ on-line calendars and makes regular site visits to ensure fidelity of support for teacher. Serves as a liaison to the Peer Assistance and Review Panel and the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers.

Essential Functions:
•    Plans, assigns and reviews the work of all coaches in their effort to support and maintain a viable, cadre of new and struggling teachers assigned by the School District of Philadelphia.
•    Develops, implements and conducts professional development for coaches aligned with the current initiatives of the School District of Philadelphia including the Common Core State Standards, Instructional Shifts and The Danielson Framework for Teaching. 
•    Maintains relationships with principals to ensure appropriate support is provided for designated staff. 
•    Applies the most current pedagogy and instructional strategies that contribute to effective teaching practices to support coaches as they support teachers. 
•    Monitors the process and progress of Performance Improvement Plans for teachers who are rated as Needs Improvement and Unsatisfactory. 
•    Ensures compliance with the Professional Growth System (PGS) and Peer Assistance & Review (PAR). 
•    Serves as liaison between the Peer Assistance & Review Team and the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers. 
•    Collaborates closely with the Executive Director, to ensure fidelity that academic resources are being communicated to coaches and teachers they support. 
•    Collaborates with Evaluation team to ensure all stakeholders are notified and briefed on evaluation status of teachers within coaching program 
•    Collaborates with staffing and recruitment to ensure a smooth transition for new teachers into the PAR program 
•    Collaborates with Professional Development team to provide intensive training during New Teacher Orientation.  


Minimum Requirements:
•    Master’s degree program from an accredited college or university. 
•    Five years of full-time, paid, professional experience in education, one of which have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity and have included responsibility for planning, developing and implementing professional development programs for instructional staff.

Certificates/Licenses: 
•    Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Administrative certificate for K-12 or Elementary and Secondary Principal 
      OR 
•    Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of:
o The principles, practices and methods that include instruction in the Common Core State Standards and the Instructional Shifts. 
o  The principles and theories associated with effective instruction techniques.
o The theories and principles of child growth and development.
o Effective adult learning strategies. o Coaching process and strategies within implementing goals/action steps for teachers

Demonstrated ability to: 
o    Design, coordinate, monitor and implement professional development sessions. 
o    Design and facilitate professional development that is engaging and appropriate for adults. 
o    Conduct a comprehensive needs assessment to support coaches as they support teachers. 
o    Work with computers, computer software and database applications.
o    Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 
o    Establish and maintain effective working relationships
