Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of full-time, paid, professional advocacy, community organizing, legislative, communications, or consulting experience.
  • All work experience related to the position must be included on the resume.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of:
    • principles and theories associated with current District organizational initiatives.
    • challenges in urban K-12 public education.
    • the political landscape and legislative process.
    • principles and practices of effective community, intergovernmental, and media relations.
    • techniques for establishing and maintaining effective community and stakeholder relations.

 

  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • use persuasive skills to achieve strategic priorities.
    • exercise sound judgment and discretion.
    • respond to sensitive issues with diplomacy.
    • lead and implement strategic initiatives.
    • work on multiple projects simultaneously, as evidenced by an ability to balance and prioritize multiple competing priorities.
    • assess the relative strategic importance of competing requests and priorities.
    • adapt to different situations, particularly when new information is provided.
    • analyze complex problems and make sound decisions or recommendations to remedy problems.
    • understand, interpret, and analyze a variety of data sources.
    • identify and break down complex problems and develop strategies to address the identified issues based on evidence.
 

 

    • communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of audiences.
    • build and maintain strong, effective, and collaborative working relationships with colleagues across all levels of an organization.
    • build productive, collaborative relationships with external stakeholders, partners, elected officials, and community organizations.
