Minimum Requirements 

   Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

   Two years of full-time, paid professional experience in an education, social work or a juvenile justice setting, which has involved working with a school-age population in an urban setting.

                                                                                               

                                                                        OR

 

   Any equivalent combination of training and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Talent. 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  Demonstrated knowledge of:

o   the Pennsylvania School Code on compulsory attendance (ACT 138), The School

District of Philadelphia’s attendance policy (Policy 204), the District’s student attendance and child accounting procedures as well as how Response to Intervention (RTI) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) relates to the student.

o   current social, educational and economic issues related to student attendance and truancy.

o   the District’s student information systems.

o   community-based agencies and resources available to children and families.  o the role and standards for DHS truancy providers. o the functions of Court of Common Pleas-Family Court Division, the Department of Human Services (DHS) prevention services and The Office of Children and Families (OCF).

o   School District policies, procedures, and programs, including but not limited to, special education, student enrollment and transfers, transportation, homebound instruction and homeless services.

 

   Demonstrated skill in:

o   collecting, analyzing and using data.

 

   Demonstrated ability to:

o   work quickly and effectively under time limitations. o exercise discretion and tact in handling sensitive and/or confidential information.

o   understand student accounting procedures and the Pennsylvania Compulsory Attendance Law.

o   interpret, prepare, write, and present concise case reports. o use and operate a personal computer and related technology efficiently. o use word-processing and spreadsheet software applications for data entry. o accurately follow court proceedings and administrative directives. o communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

o   establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships.
